Cast Air Heavy Duty Shop Tandem Air Compressor — T15324HC2-S
The T15324HC2-S is the top configuration in the 15 HP Shop Tandem lineup: two 15 HP motors driving HC2 cast iron pumps at 795 RPM, on a 240-gallon horizontal ASME tank. Combined output is 123.4 CFM at 0 PSI and 100.4 CFM at 175 PSI. At $9,173, this is the maximum storage and maximum CFM combination for the 15 HP tandem series. If you are running a body shop where two painters are spraying simultaneously, a production facility with sustained air tool demand across multiple stations, or a tire and service shop with high throughput, this configuration gives you 100+ CFM sustained at 175 PSI with 240 gallons of buffer to ride out demand spikes without pressure drop.
Why the HC2 Pump on a 240-Gallon Tank?
- Maximum CFM output: The HC2 pump is the larger, slower configuration. At 795 RPM, each pump displaces more air per revolution than the HC1 at 898 RPM. Combined, the two HC2 pumps deliver 123.4 CFM — over 13 CFM more than the HC1 tandem.
- Maximum storage: The 240-gallon receiver holds twice the stored air of the 120-gallon tank at the same pressure. Demand spikes that would drop a smaller tank's pressure by 30–40 PSI barely register on a 240-gallon system.
- When to spend the extra money: If you consistently run at or near 90 CFM sustained (the HC1's limit at 175 PSI) and your system pressure fluctuates more than you would like, the T15324HC2-S resolves both problems at once.
Cast Iron Pump Features
- All cast iron construction: Cylinders, heads, and crankcase. Cast iron is the right material for a compressor that runs multiple hours per day, every day.
- 795 RPM (HC2 configuration): Slow-speed operation means lower operating temperatures, less vibration, and longer intervals between valve and ring service compared to faster pumps of equivalent HP.
- Tapered roller bearings: Both ends of both crankshafts. Handles the sustained radial and axial loads of a heavily loaded tandem system.
- Precision steel connecting rods: Automotive-type rod insert bearings at the crank, needle bearings at the wrist pin. Designed for decades of service, not years.
- Disc and spring valves: Simple to inspect and rebuild. The most common maintenance item on any piston compressor — Cast Air makes it straightforward to service without specialized tooling.
- 4-ring pistons: Better ring seal and higher volumetric efficiency than 2-ring pistons. Less oil in the discharge air.
- Centrifugal unloader: Loadless start on every cycle. The unloader vents head pressure before startup, eliminating the hard-start stress that degrades motors and pressure switches over time.
Tank and Controls
- 240-gallon horizontal ASME tank: Powder-coated, channel base. The largest standard tank option for the 15 HP tandem series. Provides maximum stored air volume for peak demand absorption.
- Two magnetic motor starters — mounted and wired: Both motor starters factory-installed and wired. Connect to your 3-phase panel and go.
- ASME safety valves: Factory-set on both pump sides.
- Metal belt guards: Fully enclosed on both assemblies.
- Copper discharge and unloader tubes: Copper throughout the hot side.
- 1,725 RPM industrial motors: Full 15% service factor or higher.
Available Factory-Mounted Options
- Low Oil Control (#6304x2M): Automatic shutdown on low oil for both pumps.
- Hour Meter 230V (#HRM75x2M) or 460V (#HRM460x2M): Independent runtime tracking per pump.
- Alternator Relay (#ALT230M or #ALT460M): Alternates lead pump each cycle.
- Electronic Auto Drain (#SDV03M): Timed condensate drain.
- Dual Control (#DC2x2M): Start/stop and throttle modes.
- Intake Noise Silencers (#SA100x4M): Reduces intake noise on both pumps.
- Belt Tensioner (#254Dx2M): Self-tensioning motor base for both assemblies.
- Aftercooler (#BGAC1x2M, 70 CFM rated): Belt-guard-mounted aftercooler.
- All Options Package (#AOC2D): All asterisk options at 10% off.

Available Configurations — 15 HP Shop Tandem Lineup
- T15312HC1-S: 2×15 HP, 898 RPM, 110 CFM / 90.6 CFM @ 175 PSI, 120-gal — $6,675

- T15324HC1-S: 2×15 HP, 898 RPM, 110 CFM / 90.6 CFM @ 175 PSI, 240-gal — $8,121
- T15324HC2-S: 2×15 HP, 795 RPM, 123.4 CFM / 100.4 CFM @ 175 PSI, 240-gal — $9,173 (this unit)
When Does a Shop Need This vs. Stepping Up or Down?
- Step down if your demand is lower: If your shop does not consistently approach 90 CFM demand, the T15312HC1-S at $6,675 provides the same reliability at a lower cost. Spend the difference on an aftercooler and auto drain.
- This unit is right when: Your shop runs at capacity during peak hours, pressure fluctuation is a real problem, and you want the maximum buffer the 15 HP tandem series offers. This is the machine for a busy body shop, a production line, or a fleet maintenance facility that cannot tolerate pressure drops mid-shift.
- Step up to 20 HP tandem: If you are maxing out 100 CFM and still need more, the T20312HC2-S (180 CFM combined) or T20324HC2-S (180 CFM on 240-gal) are the next steps. At that point the cost difference is significant, but so is the air capacity.
