The Castair DP75RD is a dryer installation kit for the RD59-11K and smaller refrigerated dryers, bundled with a receiver dryer for two-stage moisture removal. Unlike the DM75RD which mounts the dryer on the compressor, the DP75RD is a standalone installation — the dryer is positioned separately from the compressor (wall-mounted, floor-standing, or on a bracket) and the bypass plumbing connects the two. Adding the receiver dryer to this kit means you get bulk moisture and oil aerosol separation upstream of the refrigerated dryer, which extends dryer life and improves overall air quality.
Two-Stage Moisture Control
A refrigerated dryer alone handles moisture well under normal conditions. But in high-humidity environments, on systems with heavy condensate loads, or in shops where air quality is critical (paint booths, precision spray applications), a receiver dryer upstream significantly improves performance:
- First stage (receiver dryer): Removes bulk liquid water and oil aerosols before the air enters the refrigerated dryer. Protects the dryer's heat exchanger from contamination.
- Second stage (refrigerated dryer): Cools the air to 37°F dew point, condenses remaining moisture, and drains it automatically.
The result is cleaner air with less maintenance on the refrigerated dryer itself. Without a pre-filter or receiver dryer, compressor oil aerosols can coat the refrigerated dryer's heat exchanger surfaces over time, reducing heat transfer efficiency and driving up operating temperatures.
Compatible Dryer Models
- RD25-6K: 25 CFM @ 37°F dew point, 3/4" NPT, 115V/1ph, 3.0A, 57 lbs
- RD59-11K: 59 CFM @ 37°F dew point, 3/4" NPT, 115V/1ph, 6.5A, 73 lbs
For dryers RD71-15K and larger, use the DP100 or DP100M.
What's Included with DP75RD
- Bypass plumbing assembly — 3-ball valve configuration for dryer isolation
- Receiver dryer/separator — bulk moisture and oil aerosol removal
- Plumbing fittings
Note: Exact dimensions, hardware list, and weight are not published in Castair's public specifications. Contact us to confirm components before ordering.
DP75RD vs. DM75RD — Which Do You Need?
- DM75RD: Compressor-mounted installation with receiver dryer. Dryer physically attaches to the compressor. Use when space is tight and a single footprint is preferred.
- DP75RD (this unit): Standalone installation with receiver dryer. Dryer goes on the wall or floor, connected via bypass plumbing. Use when the compressor location makes mounting impractical, or when you want the dryer in a more accessible service location.
