The Castair DM75RD bundles the DM75 compressor-mounted dryer motor kit with a receiver dryer — giving you both the refrigerated dryer mounting hardware and a supplemental moisture separator in one package. The receiver dryer handles bulk moisture removal upstream of the refrigerated dryer, which extends refrigerated dryer efficiency and life. If you're building out a complete moisture control system for a shop compressor, the DM75RD is the more complete starting point compared to the standalone DM75.
What the Receiver Dryer Adds
A refrigerated compressed air dryer works by cooling compressed air to condense moisture, then draining the condensate before the air continues into the distribution system. But highly saturated air — common from compressors in humid environments or high-output systems — can overwhelm a refrigerated dryer if moisture levels are too high entering the unit.
A receiver dryer (also called a separator or coalescing pre-filter) upstream of the refrigerated dryer handles the heaviest water load first. It separates bulk liquid water and compressor oil aerosols before the air enters the refrigerated dryer. This means:
- Refrigerated dryer runs cleaner: Less liquid load on the refrigerant heat exchanger extends service intervals and dryer life
- Consistent dew point: The refrigerated dryer can more easily maintain the 37°F dew point when it's not overwhelmed by bulk moisture
- Better air quality downstream: Two-stage separation removes both bulk liquid and fine moisture aerosols
Compatible Dryer Models
Like the DM75, the DM75RD is sized for compressor-mounted installation on Castair refrigerated dryers at RD59-11K and smaller:
- RD25-6K: 25 CFM @ 37°F dew point, 3/4" NPT, 115V/1ph, 3.0A, 57 lbs
- RD59-11K: 59 CFM @ 37°F dew point, 3/4" NPT, 115V/1ph, 6.5A, 73 lbs
What's Included with DM75RD
- 3/4" NPT 3-ball valve bypass assembly
- Metal flex hose
- Vibration isolation pads
- 3/4 HP dryer motor
- Receiver dryer/separator — pre-filters bulk moisture and oil aerosols before the refrigerated dryer
When to Choose DM75RD vs. DM75
- DM75 (mounting kit only): Use when you already have adequate upstream filtration (pre-filter, separator, or aftercooler) and just need the dryer mounting hardware
- DM75RD (this unit): Use when you're building a complete installation from scratch and want the receiver dryer included. Best for shops in humid climates, high-output systems, or where air quality matters most (paint booths, precision pneumatic equipment)
- DP75RD: Standalone version with receiver dryer but without compressor mounting — for installations where the dryer goes on the wall or floor rather than on the compressor
About Castair Refrigerated Dryers
- Target dew point: 37°F — ensures dry air at the point of use under normal shop conditions
- Refrigerant: R134a and R407c, environmentally friendly with quick-connect recharge fitting
- Heat exchanger: Stainless steel for consistent performance
- Automatic drain: Only activates when moisture is present — no wasted compressed air
- Power: 115V, 1-phase, 60Hz, 9-foot cord
- Max inlet pressure: 232 psig
- UL listed, no programming required
Capacity is based on 100°F inlet air and 100°F ambient at 100 psi. At 150°F inlet temperature, capacity drops to 55% of rated CFM.
