Castair C-FS12 — 1/2" Particulate Filter, 250 PSI, 140 CFM, 5-Micron
The C-FS12 is a 1/2-inch NPT standard-size particulate air filter from Castair — filtration only, no regulator. This is the filter-only version for shops that already have pressure control handled elsewhere and just need clean air at a 1/2-inch feed or workstation drop. At 140 CFM and 250 PSI maximum, it handles the output of most single-unit shop compressors on a 1/2-inch line.
The 5-micron element removes pipe scale, rust, and solid particulate. The 8.5-ounce bowl collects liquid water and oil condensate. If you also need pressure regulation at this location, the C-FRS12 filter/regulator combo is the better choice — same port size and flow range, with the regulator and gauge built in.
What This Unit Does
- 5-Micron Particulate Filtration: Removes solid contaminants from the compressed air stream before they damage tools, spray guns, or sensitive pneumatic components.
- 8.5 oz Bowl: Collects condensed liquid water and oil carryover for periodic manual draining. Automatic float drain available as an add-on for continuous operation.
- Filtration Only: No pressure regulation. Downstream pressure equals supply pressure minus filter pressure drop. For filtration plus regulation in one unit, use the C-FRS12.
- 1/2" NPT Female Connections: Standard threads — fits standard pipe and fittings directly.

Filter vs. Filter/Regulator — Which Do You Need?
If your system already has a regulated pressure zone and this filter is being added upstream of it, or if all your tools run at tank pressure and no regulation is needed, the C-FS12 filter-only unit works and costs less than the combo. If you need both filtration and pressure control at this location, use the C-FRS12 instead.
