Castair C-FS10 — 1" Particulate Filter, 250 PSI, 180 CFM, 5-Micron
The C-FS10 is a 1-inch NPT standard-size particulate air filter from Castair — filtration only, no regulator. If your system already has pressure regulation handled elsewhere and you just need clean air at the main line or at a specific point of use, this is the simpler, lower-cost option compared to the C-FRS10 filter/regulator combo.
At 180 CFM flow and 250 PSI maximum inlet pressure, the C-FS10 handles the output of large industrial and commercial compressors on a 1-inch main line. The 5-micron element stops solid contaminants — pipe scale, rust, particulate — before they reach downstream equipment. The 11-ounce bowl captures liquid water and oil carryover for manual draining.
What This Unit Does
- 5-Micron Particulate Filtration: Rated at 5 microns — stops pipe scale, rust particles, airborne dust, and solid debris. Protects downstream tools, cylinders, valves, and any equipment sensitive to particulate contamination.
- 11 oz Bowl: Collects liquid water and condensed oil that makes it through the supply line. Manual drain standard. For continuous unmanned operation, add an automatic float drain.
- No Regulator: This unit provides filtration only. Downstream pressure equals inlet pressure minus pressure drop across the filter element. If you need pressure regulation at this point, use the C-FRS10 instead.
- 1" NPT Female Connections: Threads directly to 1-inch pipe or fittings — no adapters needed.
Where It Fits in the Air System
- Install on the main feed line downstream of the compressor tank and any aftercooler or refrigerated dryer.
- Use upstream of a Castair coalescing filter when oil mist removal is required. The C-CF10 is the 1-inch coalescer — it needs a 5-micron prefilter to protect the coalescing element. The C-FS10 fills that role when you already have pressure regulation handled elsewhere.
- Also appropriate as a point-of-use filter at high-demand stations where a dedicated regulator is already installed at the tool or machine.

Filter vs. Filter/Regulator — Which Do You Need?
If your system has a single regulated pressure zone and all equipment runs at the same pressure, a filter-only unit like the C-FS10 keeps it simple and saves money over the combo. If different equipment requires different pressures, or if you want pressure control at the filter location, use the C-FRS10 filter/regulator combo instead.
