The Cast Air BGAC1K is the complete installation kit for the BGAC1 Belt Guard Aftercooler. Where the BGAC1 is the aftercooler core unit on its own, the BGAC1K bundles the aftercooler with the mounting hardware needed to complete the installation on a compatible Cast Air compressor. If you are adding an aftercooler to a compressor that does not currently have one — no existing mount, no existing hardware — the BGAC1K is the correct starting point. It gets you the aftercooler and everything required to physically mount it in one order, without a separate hardware run. The aftercooler itself is the same 35 CFM air-cooled unit as the BGAC1: an 18" x 10-1/2" heat exchanger core that mounts to the compressor belt guard, uses the flywheel fan airflow for cooling, and cools compressed air to within 15°F of ambient temperature while removing up to 65% of the water content from the air stream. For 5 HP, 7 HP, and 10 HP Cast Air compressors dealing with moisture problems in lines, tools, or downstream equipment, the BGAC1K delivers a complete installation without sourcing mounting hardware separately.
What the Kit Includes
- BGAC1 Aftercooler Core: The complete 35 CFM belt guard aftercooler with 18" L x 10-1/2" W heat exchanger core and 3/4" NPT inlet and outlet connections — same unit as the standalone BGAC1
- Mounting Hardware: The brackets, fasteners, and hardware required to install the BGAC1 on the belt guard of compatible Cast Air compressors — no separate hardware sourcing required
- Complete Installation Package: Everything needed to mount and connect the aftercooler to your compressor discharge arrives in one shipment
Aftercooler Performance
- 35 CFM Capacity: Rated for up to 35 CFM of compressed air flow — correctly sized for 5 HP, 7 HP, and 10 HP reciprocating piston compressors at typical duty cycles
- Cools to Within 15°F of Ambient: At rated inlet air temperature of 250°F, the aftercooler core brings discharge air temperature to within 15°F of the ambient temperature at the installation site
- Reduces Water Content by Up to 65%: At rated conditions, the unit removes up to 65% of the water vapor from the compressed air stream before it enters the tank and distribution system
- 50% Moisture Reduction Per 20°F Temperature Drop: Compressed air loses approximately 50% of its water content for every 20°F reduction in temperature — the aftercooler makes that temperature drop happen right after the pump, where it has the most effect
- Belt Guard Flywheel Fan Cooling: The aftercooler uses the existing compressor flywheel fan airflow — no separate fan motor, no additional power connection, no added maintenance requirements
- Protects Downstream Equipment: Cooler, drier air means less wear on air tools, fewer regulator failures, less corrosion in lines and tanks, and longer service life for downstream filters and dryers

Available Configurations — BGAC Aftercooler Lineup
Cast Air produces belt guard aftercoolers across four output ratings. The K suffix means the unit is sold as a complete kit with mounting hardware included. Choose based on your compressor output:
- BGAC1 / BGAC1M / BGAC1K — 35 CFM: 18" L x 10-1/2" W, 3/4" NPT connections, 8 lbs — fits 5 HP, 7 HP, and 10 HP compressors. BGAC1 is the loose aftercooler core; BGAC1K is the complete kit; BGAC1M is the mounted variant.
- BGAC2 / BGAC2M — 50 CFM: 18" L x 14-1/2" W, 1" NPT connections, 12 lbs — fits 15 HP compressors.
- BGAC3 / BGAC3M — 75 CFM: 24" L x 20-1/2" W, 1" NPT connections, 20 lbs — fits 20+ HP compressors.
- BGAC4 / BGAC4M — 100 CFM: 23" L x 26-1/2" W, 1" NPT connections, 25 lbs — for larger industrial systems.

BGAC1K vs. BGAC1 vs. BGAC1M — Which Version Do You Need?
- BGAC1K (this product): Order this when you are doing a new installation — no existing aftercooler mount, no existing hardware. The kit gives you the aftercooler and all hardware in one order. This is the right choice for shops adding an aftercooler for the first time on a compatible compressor.
- BGAC1 ($307.23): Order this when you are replacing a failed aftercooler core on an existing mount, or when you already have all the mounting hardware and only need the aftercooler unit itself. The BGAC1 costs less because it does not include mounting hardware.
- BGAC1M ($379.95): The pre-configured mounted variant — specifically set up for direct belt guard installation. Best when the compressor is designed to accept this mounting configuration without any additional hardware work.
- BGAC1x2M: The duplex mounted configuration for twin-compressor setups. Use this when you are running two compressors and need to cool the combined discharge.
When Does a Shop Need an Aftercooler
- You have water at the drains: If your tank drains are passing significant liquid water every drain cycle, your compressor is generating more moisture than your current setup handles — an aftercooler removes the bulk of that moisture at the source
- Air tools are failing prematurely: Internal rust and moisture-related wear in pneumatic tools is a moisture problem. An aftercooler upstream dramatically reduces the amount of liquid water reaching the tools.
- Paint finish quality problems: Water contamination in compressed air used for paint and coating application causes fisheye, blushing, and adhesion failures. Body shops running 5-10 HP compressors for paint work particularly benefit from the BGAC1 series.
- Regulators and filters clogging: Moisture-loaded air loads up inline filters quickly and causes regulator seats and diaphragms to degrade. An aftercooler upstream of the filter bank extends service intervals significantly.
- Operating in a humid climate: The higher the ambient humidity, the more moisture compressed air carries. In high-humidity environments, aftercoolers are not optional — they are necessary to maintain acceptable air quality.
