Castair C-DF34 Desiccant Tower Dryer -- 3/4-inch NPT, 25 SCFM Capacity, 215 PSI
The Castair C-DF34 is a regenerative desiccant tower dryer for 3/4-inch NPT compressed air lines. It handles a maximum flow of 5000 SCFM and an effective drying capacity of 25 SCFM at 70 degrees F inlet temperature and 100 PSI. The desiccant vessel measures 4 x 4 x 10 inches (L x W x H) and holds 2 lbs of silica gel. Maximum operating pressure is 215 PSI.
The C-DF34 is the larger of the two Castair desiccant tower models, with twice the desiccant capacity and higher flow rating than the 1/2-inch C-DF12. Its larger desiccant bed means longer service intervals between desiccant changes compared to the C-DF12 at similar flow rates. As with the C-DF12, a particulate prefilter and coalescing filter must be installed upstream -- oil contamination deactivates silica gel permanently. The silica gel refill is Castair DSGB02 (1-Qt, 2 lbs).

C-DF34 vs. C-DF12 -- Which Do You Need?
- C-DF12: 1/2-inch NPT, 15 SCFM, 3/4 lb desiccant, 3 x 3.5 x 6 inches -- single instrument or one-tool drops at low flow
- C-DF34: 3/4-inch NPT, 25 SCFM, 2 lbs desiccant, 4 x 4 x 10 inches -- higher-flow drops or where longer service intervals between desiccant changes are preferred (this unit)
Required Upstream Filtration
Install a 5-micron particulate filter and a coalescing filter upstream. Oil-laden air coats the silica gel and permanently deactivates it -- this cannot be reversed, only replaced. Castair requires upstream coalescing filtration for proper dryer operation.
