The Castair S-16D-100 is the factory intake air filter assembly for cast iron compressor pumps with a 1” NPT inlet, rated at 30 CFM. It is a silencer-type unit that handles both intake filtration and noise attenuation. The 16D filter element is pre-installed. Body dimensions are 6.75” outer diameter and 4.5” overall height — the same housing used across the S-16D series, with a 1” NPT inlet thread for the larger Castair cast iron pumps in 7.5–10 HP configurations.

Per Castair's published pump cross-reference, the S-16D-100 is specified for their VA80, C1, C2, and C3 cast iron pump models. These are the mid-range pumps in Castair's industrial and commercial lineup. If you are replacing a worn filter on any of these pump models, or on any comparable 1” NPT inlet pump displacing up to 30 CFM, this is the correct part.

When Does a Shop Need the S-16D-100 vs. Stepping Up or Down?

• Order the S-16D-100 if your pump has a 1” NPT inlet and displaces up to 30 CFM at operating pressure. Correct for 7.5–10 HP Castair cast iron pumps in the VA80/C1/C2/C3 family.

• Step down to S-16D-075 if your pump inlet is 3/4” NPT. The S-16D-100 will not thread onto a 3/4” port.
\n
• Step up to S-20DP-100 if your pump has a 1” NPT inlet but displaces more than 30 CFM. Both take a 1” NPT inlet, but the 20DP body handles 60 CFM in a taller housing.

• If unsure whether your pump needs S-16D-100 or S-20DP-100: both use a 1” NPT thread. The deciding factor is CFM displacement, not inlet thread size.
